Holla!

Aight, maybe this blog thing is tougher to maintain that I figured. Its kinda like a gym membership - you'll go 3 or 4 times a week and get all gung-ho and then one week you just fall off completely. Maybe you're tired or too busy, but it don't change the fact that you've dropped the ball. In my vain attempt to justify my hiatus, here's whats been shakin' down undah!

-Moved into another 2 bedroom. I think I mentioned it earlier. This one is a keeper (except for the no way in hell cable will ever be provided to the building snag) - fully furnished so I don't have to buy any big items like a bed or a couch or little stuff like a lamp. The apartment is in Redfern, which is the rough part of Sydney. So I moved from Kirribilli, down the road from the Prime Minister to the 'Hood. Riches to rags. It is in a good part of Redfern though. No really, it is. And the bad part of Sydney is a far cry from Roxbury or South Providence anyway. How many apartments in the hood have a gym, pool, hot tub and sauna? How about a balcony off your bedroom? Its a steal at around $400 a month.
-Saw J Mascis at the Gaelic Club. What a fantastic show that was! I used to be big into them at UMass, and used to see J around town as he still lives in Amherst. It was a plus back then when he would play open mic nights at the now defunct Baystate Hotel. But since then, I haven't listened to a whole lot of Dinosaur Jr or his solo stuff. I forgot how good some of those songs were. And with just him on stage with his guitar was a good way to hear all those songs again.
-Bought a DVD player. OK, thats not really news. But it is because I don't own one in the states. The cool thing is I got it cheap from a co-worker, and it plays all dvds, so my US DVDs play on it perfectly. I bought the I Am Trying To Break Your Heart DVD the other day and am totally digging it. Those guys are so good.
-I work alot. Too much. I'm the team leader here, but nothing is set up, so I have to get everything initiated practically from scratch. And I'm the tech trainer for the reps here, giving the closest approximation to new hire training that we get in rhode island before we even take calls. The training is pretty time consuming, even if I'm just modifying existing trainings. Then theres the customer callbacks and emails. Someday I'll stop the 10 and 12 hour days.

Upcoming:
-Friday night we have The Lucksmiths. Hopefully they aren't as twee as Belle and Sebastian.
-Monday morning we have...Gasp!!!...Boston at Minnesota! Yep. Taking the whole day off for this one to watch the game live at a bar named Cheers. 10AM sharp. A bit too early to hit the Toohey's New but buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks!

Playlist:
Gaslight Radio - Chapter 6: The Hard Luck Nights
Uncle Tupelo - Anthology 89-93
Blur - Think Tank
