This report just adds more strength to my belief that cast iron and stainless steel is the way to go.

This news made my day. Its about time a team of 2 superstars and a bench full of ineffective role players had it handed to them.

Back on the 24 hr pager this week. Rang 2 times during normal business hours on weds - neither was serious. Today was a bit more sticky. I gave a training at the end of the day (leaving the pager on my desk) and come back to you guessed it, a callback. Long story short the location was pretty remote and it didn't look good at all. Only by the grace of the UPS angels did I find a tech who happened to be in that town at that very time to take it. Two points for the kid.

Took monday off to watch Lowe cough up a crappy start and get the sox in a 9-1 hole only to see firsthand this never quit attitude I've read so much about. OK, so they fell short at 9-8, but for me that was the sweetest loss I've seen in years. In other baseball news, currently 4-2 in head to head fantasy baseball. Soon to be 5-2. If Isringhausen or Robert Person become closers, it'll be lights out for the rest of the Chicks Dig Scars Fantasy Baseball League.

Day 2 and a half of non stop rain here. When you talk about the weather everyone says they've never seen it rain so much. Woopde-f'n-doo I say to that. Not good times.

Barbe-mania

This country is hooked on barbeques. Virtually every weekend someone is grilling up a storm, and grilling serious quantities of assorted cuts of meat. You've got your kebab, your drumstick, your vegetables, your bangers or as we know and love them - sausages, and maybe some other cut of meat. And lots of it. I haven't seen much of my personal faves - hamburgers, boneless chicken breasts, and hot dogs but I can't complain. Oh yeah, while on the subject of barbeque, if you buy Barbeque flavored potato chips, do not expect your typical St.louis/Carolina Mesquite flavored seasonings. Its this curryesque flavor. You'll taste more of this at the barbes too. I hope that I can find the time while I'm here to do a proper south of the mason-dixon line barbeque, complete with some slow cooked pulled pork. Mmmmm. I do loves me some pulled pork. Anyhoo, so saturday night was barbe-focused at my apartment. My housemates brother dropped in from some island off the barrier reef part of australia, so my housemate did the cooking. Had a few toohey's and watched the matrix to close out the evening. By the way, the city pictured in the Matrix is Sydney (at least the non -demolished city that they show). And that scene where Keanu kicks ass in the abandoned subway is a sydney subway in design. The wonders of computers eh? So I'm now looking forward to the sequel which is out like now or something.
Spent saturday walking the shoreline from Bondi to Coogee. Probably like 3 miles or so. Took lots of photos and brought along my 35mm for the real quality shots. My digital elph is fine for point and shoot type stuff, but its very limited in its zoom capabilities and can't take a low light shot to save its digital ass. 35mm is still King.
Lucksmiths were no good. Dan Brodie looks to be the next good show here next saturday. Capitalizing on the recent 2CD comp Tales from the Australian Underground is a show of the same name saturday the 24th. Headlining will be the aussie band X (not to be confused with the LA-based band of the same name), with other acts including Ed Kuepper of the Saints fame, and a bunch of Aussie bands I never heard before I can here. Having examined the comp in stores since I first made it here, I think its time I fork over some cash and have a go of it.
