Music news:
Jayhawks are touring with Lucinda Williams. Both of these acts are well worth it, even if ticket prices are $25-$30. They each have a solid catalog so you can be sure to hear some really good tunes if you're not too familiar with them. The latest cds from each are 4 outta 5 in my book.
Grandaddy is playing ($5.95 in Providence?!?!). These guys are pretty freakin' good. twangy spacerock or something like that. Pitchfork calls 'em "'technology hatin' technology usin'" I think that sums up what they are all about.
Built to Spill. OMG, who has put out a better one-two punch than they did with Perfect from now on and Keep it like a secret? Me thinks no one. So what if their last cd was a let down. Few bands can play 20 minute cotrez the killer covers. And/or play some good george harrison tunes.
Aussieland is getting warmer, and I'm wicked psyched about that. Supposed to hit like 90 this weekend. Its been quite a while since I felt 90 degree weather. Bike, gym, and hoops are all on the weekend agenda. That and maybe mapping out some more plans for a weekend bike tour. All systems go for new zealand. I think the red sox pennant race is the only stumbling block. I think I ran out of room on my webspace, because I uploaded pics but they don't seem to be enabled, which means I'll probably remove some earlier pics to make room.
Reading Undaunted Courage right now. Does anyone have the desire to go out west next summer to partake in the 200th anniversary bidness goin' on? It could be terribly boring, but there are a few outfitters that have canoe camping or rafting in some of the more pristine areas. That may be the hot ticket.
