My my, how things can look so rosey...

Okay, my last post was nearly giddy over the prospect of spending a day or more on the gulf coast. It didn't quite turn out that way. Nearly 2 weeks down the road I will recap as succinctly as possible to close the book on it.
Thursday - Arrived in New Orleans, met with customer for a couple of hours, made it back to the hotel and immediately got a call from the contracted workers - my hotel was out of town so it was a pain but I rushed back in to see them. Dinner time and I haven't eaten a thing all day. More rushed than expected. A sign of things to come. Met up with Dan after dinner, hit a few bars with the Boston contingent before jetting after nidnight
Friday - started at 8am, ended at 9pm. Kinda tired from a slight lack of quality sleep or food. Hunted down an Oyster house then went to Home Depot for some supplies before calling it a night.
Saturday - 7AM start. The guys are slightly behind schedule, plus they elect to leave at 7 instead of working a long shift to get more done. Oh well, its saturday night and I'm going out with Dan and company anyhoo...hit some decent bars, including Mollies at the Market, perhaps the best bar in the quarter. Heck, they got Neutral Milk Hotel and Doolittle on the jukebox. Late night, and an early morning.
Sunday - Hung over. Start at 830, or at least arrive at that time. Perhaps the hangover provided a degree of clarity I did not have earlier. These guys are never gonna finish. I now do everything I can to assist them and get lunch and dinner so they can work through. And work through we do. I left New Orleans at 2pm after working 30 hrs straight. Those guys still weren't done when I left.
Monday- drive from New Orleans to Galveston was the most challenging drive of my life. after working 30 hrs straight after getting 3 hrs of sleep after drinking upteen drinks the night before, my body was screaming for a break. First 100 miles were okay. Eventually though, hypnosis set in. 6 hours later I get into the area of my hotel, get dinner (take out), check in, and look over some stuff for the job tuesday morning. Still, did not get to sleep before midnight.
Tuesday - home stretch. The job went okay and the drive home was fine. It would have been better if there was a Dunkin Donuts or a Starbucks anywhere.
