Sometimes the Internet ain't a kind place
Yesterday I got an official email from paypal saying that there was a forgotten password request. I took note of it and went to the paypal site but this got buried beneath other crap and forgotten about. Today I got an email saying an email address had been added to my paypal account. Then I immediately dropped what I was doing to take care of this. Went to the site and the first thing I noticed was that itwas https but there was no lock in the bottom corner of the browser. But I still went ahead and tried to log in to my acct. Next it said theres a hold on acct, and that I have to verify by either supplying credit card# or answering the security questions (mothers maiden name). I chose the cc#. Only I didn't then get access to my acct. Thats when I knew that something was surely up. Called paypal and the hold message says their emails will always have first and last names. The first email had this; todays did not. Went back to the site that duped me and now noticed a redirect to a different site in the URL. Thats when I canceled my cc, cause I clearly followed a fraudulent link. So they got my cc number which is now canceled. Still, sucks to have been duped and I've got that feeling that this may pop up again, as they may be able to get additional info with that credit card number. So you're safe. And I'm in cyberhell.
Then this afternoon after I rebooted my laptop I tried to go to www.redsox.com. Got redirected to www.www.redsox.com.org Tried the celtics website, same thing. Funny thing was anything I had a bookmark for worked fine. Deleted all cookies and all temp internet files and somehow that fixed it. Initially tried the system restore but that wasn't turned on. Gotta love corporate policies.
Add to this the fact that my wireless router has been far from reliable today I'm thinking this internet think can screw. But alas, how would I maintain my fantasy baseball team?
Taking the early flight to providence tomorrow, be back in new england for the weekend. See you there.

Okay I give in
I moved down here around April 12. Its now May 18. 5 weeks. 5 weeks I've been able to get by with ceiling fans and open windows. Its nearly 11pm right now and I give in. Its 75 out right now, warmer than that in my second floor apartment. The AC era begins.

Making Mixes Makes Me Drink
I can't tell ya how many mix tapes and cds and playlists I've made. I'll tell ya this much, its tough and it don't get easier. Partly 'cause I have more music to play wit, which inevitably means that its gonna be a project. Ergo the beer. I feel like I'm close to uncoding some mathematical code to the mix, ala the movie Pi, but alas it escapes me. Last year saw the coming and going of an unrealized Brian Wilsonesque multi disc mixtape masterpiece. Each CD was to have a theme, and the packaging to bring all the distinct themes home under one umbrella of sound. Failing to complete this, the single or double disc mix seems like childs play. Only less accessible.
